Overview

College Tools is a Google Sheets add-on that helps students and parents track college applications and data. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use our tool.

Information We Access

When you use College Tools, the add-on may access:

- Google Sheets Data: Only the spreadsheet where College Tools is installed (limited by `spreadsheets.currentonly` scope)

- College Data: Information retrieved from the public College Scorecard API (api.data.gov)

Information We Collect

College Tools does NOT:

- Store any of your personal information

- Share data with third parties

- Store data outside of your Google Sheets

Website Analytics

Our website (college-tools.granite-hq.com) uses Cloudflare Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This is cookieless analytics that collects:

- Page views and unique visitors

- Browser type and version

- Operating system information

- Geographic location (country/region level only)

- Device type (desktop/mobile/tablet)

- Referrer information (which site sent you to us)

What Cloudflare Analytics does NOT collect:

- Personal identifiers or cookies

- IP addresses (Cloudflare anonymizes these)

- Cross-site tracking data

- Any personally identifiable information

How We Use Information

- Spreadsheet Access: Used solely to read/write college data in your spreadsheet

- API Calls: Made directly to the College Scorecard API to fetch public college information

- Website Analytics: Used to understand site usage and improve user experience

- All processing happens within your Google account; no data is sent to external servers

Data Security

- All data remains within your Google account

- We use Google's security infrastructure

- API calls are made over secure HTTPS connections

- We follow Google's security best practices for Apps Script

- Website traffic is secured through Cloudflare's global network

Third-Party Services

College Tools uses:

- College Scorecard API: A public U.S. Department of Education API

- Their data practices: https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/data/documentation/

- No personal data is sent to this API

- Cloudflare Analytics: Privacy-first website analytics

- Cookieless and privacy-compliant by design

- Data is aggregated and anonymized

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

- All data is stored in your Google Sheets

- You can delete any data at any time

- Uninstalling the add-on removes all access

- No data persists after removal

- Website analytics cannot be linked back to you personally

Children's Privacy

College Tools does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The tool is intended for high school students (typically 14+) and their parents.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy. Changes will be posted in this document with an updated revision date.
